Do you need help getting an autism diagnosis?
It can be a confusing road to getting a diagnosis and starting services. We’re here to help guide you through the process!
Depending on the state you receive services in and your insurance provider, an official diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADS) by a licensed medical provider may be required to access ABA services.
What you need to know:
- A comprehensive standardized assessment must be conducted to determine a diagnosis of ADS.
- The diagnosis must be determined by a physician (e.g., pediatrician, pediatric psychiatrist, or neurologist) or a licensed psychologist.
- School assessments are not enough to qualify a child for ABA therapy on their own.
Provider recommendations
There are a select number of providers who offer testing. Please call our office 833-225-9393 if you need recommendations for who to contact for help getting an ASD diagnosis.
You have a diagnosis. Now what?
Upon receiving the official diagnosis from your child’s doctor, contact BrightPath Behavior to start the intake process. The doctor should fax the final results to us at 512-857-1423 or email them to intake@brightpathbehavior.com.
You may qualify for an ADOS-2 Diagnostic Assessment through BrightPath Behavior.
At BrightPath Behavior, our clinicians understand the significance of accurate diagnosis and timely intervention. If you are a prospective client and are running up against roadblocks to getting a diagnosis you may qualify for ADOS-2 testing through our company.
BrightPath Behavior administers autism testing if you meet the following criteria:
- Your child is under the age of five and is covered by a commercial insurance plan (not medicaid).
- Your child’s pediatrician, neurologist, or other pediatric provider agrees to write an order for ADOS-2 testing.
- You intend to enroll in ABA at one of our clinics upon receiving a diagnosis.
With the help of your child’s doctor, BrightPath Behavior’s comprehensive testing process ensures clients receive a valid assessment and treatment plan backed by a thorough diagnostic process.
Note: Texas Medicaid patients may not receive an ASD diagnosis by a licensed ADOS-2 provider. The state requires they be tested by a medical doctor.
